FAQ's about your guided trip

What type of fishing will I do?

Our trips are primarily spey fishing.  The day will consist of floating a stretch of river with stops in select areas and gravel bars to swing flies.

What gear should I bring?

You will need breathable waders and wading boots.  We recommend felt soles for better grip on the rocky river bottoms.  If you are a fan of cleats, feel free to bring them. A wading staff as well if it makes you feel more comfortable.  Although the wading is generally not very treacherous.

If you don't have waders, or don't want to travel with them, we do NOT have loaner waders. But you can rent them from Waters West in Port Angeles.

If you have a rod/reel you would like to bring along, that's great.  If you don't, we have plenty for you to use.

Always pack rain gear, and plenty of layers as most mornings are cool.  If we're lucky it will warm up in the afternoon, but some days it doesn't.  You will want to be prepared either way.

What kind of boat will we be floating in?

I have a custom 16' Boulder Boat Works drift boat.

What will the weather be like?

The weather is Forks can be pretty unpredictable, however, you will always want to be prepared for rain.  We recommend that you dress in layers.  Because we do float trips there will always be a boat nearby to store extra layers, better too many than not enough.  You can find a local forecast on our Forks page.  You will want to check back regularly because the forecast is always changing.

Where is Forks?

Forks in located west of Seattle, across Puget Sound.  Traveling from SeaTac to Forks takes roughly 4 hours and depending on the route you choose, can involve ferry crossings.  Click here for driving directions.  Check out our Forks page for places to stay and eat once you get here.
